EUR.1-certificate
You need a EUR.1-certificate when you export goods to certain countries outside the EU. With a EUR.1-certificate, goods can enter the country of destination duty-free.
The certificate and when to use it
You use the EUR.1-certificate when you need to export a product to certain countries outside the EU. The certificate is intended to prove where the goods were produced. When using a EUR.1-certificate, you can import the goods at a lower rate of duty, and sometimes duty-free, into the destination country.
The EUR.1-certificate is issued by the Danish Customs and Tax Administration. There are a few requirements that must be met before you can be issued with the certificate:
- The export must be secured, which must be documented by a Movement Reference Number (MRN)
- The exporter must be able to prove the origin of the goods – this can be done via a certificate of origin, supplier invoice, etc.
This means that the certificate is sometimes used along with a certificate of origin, as it is necessary for the exporter to prove the origin of the goods when a EUR.1-certificate is issued.
The EUR.1-certificate contains information such as: Consignor and consignee, specific goods information, certificate from the Danish Customs and Tax Administration, invoice number, etc.
Create your EUR.1-certificates digitally on the Traid-platform
You can fill in all relevant export documents on our digital platform, including your EUR.1-certificates. Once you have completed your EUR.1-certificate, it must be stamped by the relevant authority before it can be put into use. In Denmark, the certificate is stamped by the Danish Customs and Tax Administration. If you have made an agreement with your chamber of commerce, you can send the certificate to them, and they will have it stamped by the DCTA.
