e-Export

When you take goods out of the EU customs territory, you must make an export declaration. The declaration must be made in a system called e-Export.

e-Export and when to use it

When you take goods out of the EU customs territory, you must make an export declaration for the goods. The customs authorities use export declarations to control exports from Denmark. The declarations are made in a system on the Danish Customs and Tax Administration’s website – a system called e-Export. Companies must have permission from the Tax Agency before they can access the system. Permission can be applied for on the Tax Agency’s website.

The advantage of using e-Export is that the exported goods can be sold without VAT when you can prove that the goods have been sent out of the EU. This documentation is available in the e-Export system. On the other hand, when goods are sent to another EU country, customs rules state that this is not an export of goods but rather a delivery within the EU. e-Export should therefore not be used when you are trading goods within the EU.

What happens if you make an error in your e-Export declaration?

e-Export is no different from other documents and certificates when it comes to errors. If there are errors in your export declaration, it can complicate and slow down the export of your goods. According to the Danish Customs and Tax Administration’s website, goods can only be exported from the EU once the export declaration has been released by Customs, which is obviously not possible if there is an error in the declaration.

Unfortunately, errors in export declarations for e-Export are common. One of the main reasons for errors is that the declaration is simply filled out incorrectly. If you want to avoid making errors in your export declarations, you can make them directly on the Traid-platform, where automation ensures that the risk of errors is minimized significantly.

Save time and avoid errors when digitizing your export declarations

Our digital platform is directly integrated with the e-Export system. This means you don’t have to jump over to the Danish Customs and Tax Administration’s website every time you need to make an export declaration. Our e-Export-module pulls data directly into your export declaration, so you don’t have to fill it out manually. This saves you a lot of time – and it greatly minimizes the risk of typing errors. When you bring your other processes together on the Traid-platform, you can manage your entire workflow in one place.

We’ve created a guide that shows you how to create export declarations for e-Export directly on the Traid-platform. You can view the guide here.
